40 Days of Purpose
Friends,
All around our church building, on our website and in our recent communications you are being invited to join in our 40 day All-Church Spiritual Growth Campaign. You may be asking, why 40 days? In Scripture it is clear that God considers 40 days to be a spiritually significant time period. In fact, in the Bible, many times God wanted to prepare people for his purposes, He took 40 days. For instance:
Moses’ life was transformed by 40 days on Mount Sinai.
David was transformed by Goliath’s 40-day challenge.
The city of Nineveh was transformed in 40 days.
Jesus was prepared for ministry after spending 40 days in the desert.
The disciples were prepared for Pentecost by 40 days with Jesus after the resurrection.
The next 40 days are going to transform your life. I’m absolutely confident of that. If you are willing to commit to participate, read and hear. Participate in a 40 days of Purpose small group. You can click here to sign up. We have a web form that will allow you to join a group this week. We currently have 16 of these happening throughout the community and new groups can still be formed. If you’re not in one, it’s not too late. You can also sign up in person after worship this Sunday. It’s not too late. Read each day’s chapter from The Purpose Driven Life book. Everybody who gets in a group, is going to get a free copy of that book. I suggest that you schedule a daily appointment to sit down and read it. Schedule it and do it every day for the next 40 days. It will take you about 15 minutes a day. Hear all seven messages in this series. What Nikki and I are going to be preaching will set up what we are going to be studying during the week following. So what we’re talking about Sunday, we are going to be studying in more detail this week. If you can't be present in worship, you can still listen to the sermon on our website. If you added up what time it would take you to do all those things – It is less than 48 hours total. So here’s my question – is the rest of your life and is all of the rest of your eternity worth 48 hours of your time, now? In Christ, Pastor Jonathan
