Youth Ministry

Media Presbyterian Church considers ministry to youth and their families to be one of the greatest ministries it can provide.  The youth ministry at MPC has long been established as a place that welcomes teenagers to embrace their questions and struggles with faith in a healthy environment.  The youth leaders use a mixture of games, lessons, fellowship, and fun so that every youth feels comfortable and encouraged to examine their journey of faith.  It is our desire to meet teens where they are so we can better understand their needs and wishes.

Rehearsals are every Sunday 5:30-6:30 p.m. during the school year.

Confirmation Class - CC begins in September for 9th graders. Each week our class will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the youth room.  Students are encouraged to worship together at the 9:30 service prior to Confirmation at 11:00.  Confirmation Sunday is normally scheduled in the beginning of May at 11 a.m. service.

Sunday School -Every Sunday throughout the school year we also offer Sunday School.  Both the High School and the Middle School Sunday School classes are during the 930am hour, and are both stellar ways to meet other youth, think critically about faith, and to have a place where one can feel like they belong.  No prior registration is necessary, simply show up and enjoy.  The High School class meets in room 101 while the Middle school class meets in the youth room.

Other Happenings with the Youth throughout the week!

Homework and Hangout - On Thursdays each week from 3-6pm come on out to the youth room!  That whole area will be open just for a hangout time.  So instead of sitting alone at home doing homework, come and do it at the church where you can use our wi-fi, out wii and ping pong table (for a study break), and even our new cappucino machine meant just for you!  This is not primarily a very "churchy" thing, just expect to have some fun and have some down time with each other!

Wednesday Dinners - From 5-7pm every Wednesday Middle School and High School youth are welcome to meet up in the youth room.  From there we casually walk into Media together, grab some dinner, and return in time for the 7pm Wednesday night programming.  Check the bulletin to see which Wednesdays are not meeting due to holidays and such.

Going Thru Acts - Each Wednesday at 7pm in the youth room is a bible study on the book of Acts.  This in intended for youth who wish to learn a little more about the Scriptures of our faith, and to find out more about what the first disciples did and how they lived out their young faiths in Christ.  Check the buleetin to see which Wednesdays are not meeting due to the holidays and such.

Seasonal Things with the Youth!

Fall trips - Every fall we take separate Middle School and High School trips to retreat centers for a weekend.  These are themed retreats, no more than a 2 hour drive away and a great first way to get plugged into youth group.

All-Nighters - To help kick things off after each Christmas/New Years break we do all-nighters.  They are quite intense evenings and full of fun times, a deep lesson, and not something to be missed.  Usually the Middle School all-nighter is an event where we stay at the church the whole night, while the High School one spends part of the night going from place to place.

Summer Trips - Each summer we also do week long trips.  The High School one is early in the summer, while the Middle School one is later on.  Both are high points of the year for each youth group and often helps cement new friendships around new experiences.  In the past we have taken youth to theme parks, white water rafting, paintballing, festivals, waterparks, and ziplining.  Keep your eyes peeled for info concerning the summer trips throughout the spring!
