WMPC

Letter from the President of WMPC

We are women hear us roar?and sing and laugh and pray and cry and learn and praise God together. The Women of Media Presbyterian Church includes every woman in the congregation. We are a varied and amazing mix of nurturing and loving women whose backgrounds and experiences create an intricate tapestry. We are Marys and Marthas, Esthers and Deborahs, Lydias and Dorcas', Sarahs, Rachels, Rahabs, et cetera, et cetera. Take a look at our recently donated plaque commemorating the recipients of the WMPC Life Membership Award in the sanctuary. These are women whose leadership and service have shaped The WMPC and its Circles. Many are no longer with us and have left great shoes to fill. I'd like to challenge each of you - if you're active in a Circle - consider stepping up to a leadership position or inviting a friend to your circle. If you're not active - find a Circle that fits your personality and schedule. If you're new to the congregation, consider checking out a circle. We have so much to offer one another, so come out and meet a new sister in Christ.

Small Group Bible Study and Fellowship:

We currently have 7 small groups, called Circles, where you can meet monthly for Bible study and friendship. All circles study God's word and all share a common purpose of care and concern for their members. All support missions at home and abroad. While some circles might have demographic characteristics, each welcomes new members at any time.

Groups with a Specific Mission Focus:

If you are interested in being part of a group that has a specific mission focus, there are opportunities for you. An intergenerational group, the Knitwits, meets monthly to work knitting or crocheting prayer shawls for those who may be ill or need spiritual encouragement. This year they are also making "chemo caps" for cancer patients. We are always looking for mission opportunities that we can support.

Social activities and Programs:

Maybe you just want to be social and meet some new people. Throughout the year, we join together as a larger group for dinners, special programs, inspirational speakers and celebration. In addition, we often have small luncheons on Sunday afternoons when we can eat and chat with no agenda, just a chance to get to know each other a little better. These are all great opportunities to meet and talk with those ladies you see across the aisle in church or between services on Sunday morning.

Do you have another interest or is God laying a specific need on your heart? We are open to your ideas and will work with you to find ways to be involved with you. We love new ideas!

If you join us, you will meet many wonderful Christian women who will soon be your friends.

In His Service,
Betsy Podrebarac
