In the tempestuous ocean of time and toil there are islands of stillness where man may enter a harbor and reclaim his dignity. The island is the seventh day, the Sabbath, a day of detachment from things, instruments, and practical affairs as well as of attachment to the spirit. Abraham Heschel
I mentioned the above quote in my sermon “God is One” (6/17/12). There are times for extremes and extreme times that require kinetic responses. But, generally, I think that the well-lived life needs to be one of proportionality.
This annual concert, formerly hosted by Duncan Stearns of Reformation Lutheran Church, is a festive way to honor our nation’s servicemen/women and veterans. The concert will be held at MPC this year, and our own Lisa VanHeldorf will be directing the Patriotic Festival Choir from area churches.
An old-fashioned ice cream social will follow the performance.
All are welcome!
WHO WE ARE... The last weekend in April was one of those unintentional convergences of everything that I love about Media and a reminder of what the Church can be. On Saturday, we had over twenty people working on renovations on a woman’s house who needed some things to start going right in her life.
9 a.m.- 12 p.m.
Do you feel led to get involved? Do you have a gift? We’ll take it. Tell us what your talent is, and we’ll figure out how to use it.
We have the wonderful problem of having people who want to help, but not having enough opportunities! In response, we are putting together a database of people’s gifts and talents so that we can match people’s gifts and talents with the needs that have been identified.
Do you like to organize? We can use you!
Do you like to cook or clean? We can use you!
