Last month in a sermon based on Luke 9:1-9 (www.mediapresbyterian.org/media), I talked about what was involved with Jesus’ calling and sending of the Twelve.
Mother Teresa once said, “A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt; we must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace. The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have, the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance. It is joyful freedom. There is no television here, no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy.”
MPC has been making the trek to Mars Hill, NC as a church family for 15 years. Our goal has always been the same, to heed the call of God and to tangibly be the body of Christ. We’re excited for another year of hard work, summer heat, long days, and lots of laughter and fun. This annual mission is open to the whole church family. We hope you’ll join us. We promise you’ll be thrilled you did! Click here for more information
Procession of palms at 11 a.m. service
Breakfast is free, but donations will be accepted -- we suggest $5 for adults and $4 for students.
The money raised will provide scholarships for middle and high school trips this summer.
Each summer there are typically 15-20 partial or full scholarships given to students so they are able to attend our programming events. The proceeds from this fundraiser greatly impacts students from our congregation as well as friends of our congregation.
Please come early and often, and with an empty stomach!
