How the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Became a War of Proxy in the Presbyterian Church

This summer, the Presbyterian Church USA will be debating whether to
engage in selective divestment from three companies whom they allege are
directly or indirectly supporting the Israeli occupation of
territories, which have been designated to be part of a future
Palestinian state. Forces, both in support and opposition to these
actions, are already arguing their cases in presbyteries and the press.
Professor Borror will attempt to put this debate in the larger context
of the complicated and often contradictory relationship that American
Christianity has with Israel and Judaism. An assessment of the current
prospect for peace and justice in the region will be offered, as well as
some modest suggestions as to what American Christians can do.
