“Speaking the Truth in Love” is a 13-week class beginning Sunday, February 12 during the 9:30 hour in Room 102.  Based on the book Speaking the Truth in Love: How to Be an Assertive Christian by Rev. Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk, founder and Executive Director of Stephen Ministries, this offering will be led by Rev. Nikki Passante.  The goal of this class is to develop a Biblically-based assertive lifestyle.  An assertive lifestyle includes thinking that focuses on the truth, identifies and challenges irrational beliefs, and celebrates what God has done and continues to do.  Participants will learn how to discern the truth and focus on the truth.  Participants will develop a closer relationship with God, personal relationships will undoubtedly improve, and the ability to express your own preferences while honoring the choices of others will be gained.

Topics include:

-How Jesus lived assertively

-What to say and do when you want to be assertive

-How to say "no"

-Offering and Receiving Criticism

-Exposing, Expressing, and Receiving Anger

This class is highly recommended for anyone who wants to improve their relationships and communication style.  Books are available in the church office beginning January 31 for $10, and a syllabus of weekly topics and material will be available.  While you are not required to purchase a book, it will be helpful. If you cannot afford a book, one will be provided for you.  Questions?  Contact Rev. Nikki Passante at 610-566-3944 X16.
