DAY 26

Scripture: Psalm 27

Today’s Devotion:

I felt the truth of Christianity way before I understood it.   Growing up Catholic, I had memorized prayers, and I knew that it was important to believe in Jesus.  My childhood, however, because of circumstances  beyond my control, was-- let’s just say it was not the wonder years.   But those unenviable circumstances forced me to have what I could later describe as a personal relationship with God.  At the time, I only knew that during the worst times, I could and did cry out to God for help.  Maybe the circumstances did not change, but there was a Spirit within me-- strength, peace, love, even intermittent joy.  And the physical and emotional harm was not as bad as it could have been.   It was only later that I realized that God had given me the opportunity to establish a special bond with Him.   For all those years, I was really in His house, under the safety of His holy tent.  He hears.  He helps.  He saves.

Prayer:

Thank You Father for loving each one of us as children and for teaching us that Your ways are so much more perfect than ours.  Thank You helping us to stay on the path and for giving us light along that path so that in times of desperation, we can rely on Your strength and not lose hope.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
