Our Heavenly Father, teach us how to love one another. Teach us to understand how our actions and deeds are meaningless unless we have love in our hearts. Fill us with Your life-changing Holy Spirit so that others can see Christ's love in us. Amen.
Scripture Reference: I Corinthians 13
In John 13:34, Jesus says to his disciples: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another". In this passage, Paul's famous letter to the Corinthians tells us that love should be the motivation for everything that we do, otherwise we are just spinning our wheels. He goes on to tell us how to love: that we should be patient, kind, without envy or boastfulness, slow to anger, keeping no record of wrongs, taking no delight in evil, but delighting in truth, always trusting, always hoping, and always persevering. What a challenge! Imagine if we could love others with this kind of love, especially those we know who are not particularly lovable. If we could do this, Christ’s love would shine through us like a beacon.
