Daily Devotions for Lent 2012

LENTEN DAILY DEVOTION: The Spiritual Formation Committee has given us a great tool for Lent this year. Inspired by last Fall’s “Seeking First the Kingdom,” this devotional book, written by members of MPC, is an opportunity to pray, reflect, and listen to the voice of Christ through one another’s experience, faith, struggle and hope.  I once heard it said that even if you were on a deserted island, you could still pray “give us our” for we are “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.”  May we individually and together take our cross and follow Jesus toward the Cross and the Empty Tomb.

    - Reverend Bill Borror, Senior Pastor

The devotions written in this booklet [and online] have been a step of faith for us and it has been both exciting and humbling to see God bring these writings together.  Several people have shared that this process of writing has stretched them and taken them out of their comfort zone. For this offering, we are grateful.

Beginning February 26th, and every Sunday during Lent at the 11:00 hour, we have another opportunity to journey together as we meet to discuss the passages of the week and share God's revelations. It is such a gift to know that others are seeking and struggling and right by our side as we seek to know more of our Heavenly Father.   Lead us to the cross....

Savior I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemptions hill
Where your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as loss

You were as I
Tempted and tried
The word became flesh
Bore my sin and deathNow you’re risen
Everything  I once held dear
I count it all as loss.
Lead me to the cross

Where your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to you
Lead me to the cross
