Hi Parents and Kids!
Lent is upon us. I’m sure many of you have thoughtfully made a decision on what to give up this year. Maybe it’s Facebook, maybe sweets or possibly even TV. Lent has always been a time when my faith has grown. Part of that may be because I take away one of the many distractions that often keep me too busy to spend time with God. We fill our lives up with business because that is what seems right to do! All four Gospels recount Jesus at different times separating himself from the crowd and even the disciples to rest and pray. A man who, although fully human and fully divine, still needed time for rest. So what makes us think we can go on without it? Even in the midst of a storm of which the disciples were clearly frightened, Jesus slept. It is important to make time to rest in the presence of God so that we may come to know Him personally. I pray that during this Lent season you will find moments to separate yourself from the business of life to find peace in the Lord’s presence.
